Tourists are part of travel for recreational, business or leisure purposes. They have been made the most popular people on each railway of Sodor including the North Western Railway, the Skarloey Railway and the Arlesdale Railway. The NWR also has routes that became very popular including Thomas' Branch Line, Edward's Branch Line and Duck's Branch Line. Tourists come from all over the world to see locomotives at work and travel on the Island of Sodor forever.
The Railway Series[]
In The Twin Engines, Gordon's express known as the "Wild Nor' Wester" became the main express train for him to take tourists from England, Scotland and Wales to see the Island of Sodor. Thomas also has a special coach for people wanting to see how his branch line looks like. When Gordon is busy, James along with Bear and Henry take turns on pulling the "Wild Nor' Wester" and another train called the "Limited" was hauled by Bear in Enterprising Engines when Duck's Branch Line was re-opened and gave the Arlesdale Railway their own tourists despite their popularity within the Island of Sodor.
